Currently pining over this chambray dress from the L.L. Bean Signature line (think L.L. Bean, but updated for the new millennium. No tank suits or pleated slacks). The pre-launch items they’ve listed so far are genius- like classic pieces from JCrew, but with the added benefit of L.L. Bean’s unmatched dedication to quality.
My parents bought my brother and I L.L. Bean backpacks when we were in kindergarten. When I was in high school, the zipper on mine broke. I sent it back, and they sent me a new one, in a bigger size, in the color of my choice (my taste had changed since kindergarten!), for free. My friend Greg wore a plaid shirt from L.L. Bean from the ’70s when we were in Vermont a few weekends ago. Unreal. Now, you buy a $90 sweater from JCrew and it looks like a dish rag if you wash it twice.
I love buying from stores with the confidence that my purchase is really guaranteed. Plus, this dress is seasonless! Spring with flats and a cute undershirt, summer with flops and sunnies, and fall with tights, boots, and even a cute vest or long sweater in the winter.
Since I can’t buy anything until July, I sent the link to my momma with the subject line “Happy Easter?” What?! She gets free shipping!
