Which one of these is not like the other…

I’m in a very weird spot in my life - everyone feels like an outsider, blah blah, I know. BUT. At this point I don’t think I completely fit in with any age group. Allow me to elaborate:

I’m 23. I have a full-time job. I have an apartment, which I share with a boy. I’m engaged.

A lot of other 23-year-olds I know are waking up with strangers and generally do not have their shit together. They may or may not be concerned that their lives are a mess.

I’ve always been an old soul, but people my age for the most part do not get me right now, try as they might. Reality & responsibility are still foreign concepts.

My older friends are largely married already and thus are not all that impressed with my wedding fervor anymore. They’ve moved on to reproducing.

Babies are great. They wear adorably small things and are cute little raisins. I’m psyched that you’re pregnant/have a wee one. But your discussion of Boppees is not as interesting to me as it is to you. I would love to play with your spawn, but I’m also super glad I can give it back to you and continue with my life. No babies pour moi. Not anytime soon.

You see? I’m in the in-between: too old for my young friends, too young for my old friends.

Sounds so familiar. Minus the engagement and apartment sharing (it’s ok Chris, calm down).
