UConn Football Player Fatally Stabbed - University Mourns Jasper Howard
I attended the UConn homecoming football game vs Louisville on Saturday. It was a blast, and they won.
Sunday, we got the news that Jasper Howard, #6, UConn’s starting cornerback, had been stabbed to death on campus. In front of the student union. After a fire alarm was pulled, forcing over 300 students outside. I’m shocked. How someone could be murdered on campus (at UConn! my school! in sleepy old Storrs!), at a university-sanctioned event, is beyond me. UConn police are omnipresent to give you a parking ticket at any hour of the day, but they are absent on campus during Homecoming weekend, at an event with over 300 students present? I think they really dropped the ball.
Jasper Howard was 20 years old. He was about to become a father.
Chris called the UConn co-op to order a #6 jersey to wear to the rest of the games this season in his honor. They are sold out. I’m glad to hear the UConn community is rallying to show their support.
You are in my thoughts and prayers, Jasper Howard. Rest in peace.
