In which Tumblr furnishes my house:
My other option (still not sold on the teal chair) is this bad boy from Crate and Barrel. If Chris and I were rich (sadz, we are not) I would buy this set in the store where it currently retails for $1600.
I found it on Craigslist but the woman wants $900. It’s 3 years old. I think anyone that doesn’t instantly discount something 50% the day it leaves the store when they post it on Craigslist is bonkers. She is currently down to $750. I’m considering offering $600 (approx. 60% off retail) but I still feel like that’s a lot.
What do you think is a fair price? Should I bother? What would you pay for it?
Update: I offered $400, final offer, if it’s in perfect shape. I think $300 for the chair and $100 for the ottoman is more than fair. We shall see!

That chair looks amazing. I don’t think I would pay $400 for used furniture, though.

It all depends on the wear and tear. I’d say that $400 is way more than fair. (I was thinking more like $200.)

Definitely nothing more than $600…even $600 seems like a lot for me for furniture that is 3 years old.

In my experience, PB furniture is all about the name and not great quality. I wouldn’t pay more than $250 for a three year old used chair.

the ottoman looks slightly discolored from the chair. offer 300 (lowball her) and then maybe she’ll say 500, you’ll settle on 400.

That’s a lot of money for a chair on Craigslist!! I’d offer 500 if it was in amazing condition

I think $600 is a lot for USED furniture. I say check it out, see if she smokes, has pets, if there are any tears/stains. Then offer $400…the worst that could happen is that she says no. Plus a non name brand from a furniture outlet is only $400.

i think $600 is high. esp for ultra-suede. isn’t there a pb outlet in upstate ny? we got out leather chair (which retails for $1400) for $400 at the pb outlet near us.

I vote no, i think you can do better and find better. I really think the teal chair is unique so I like it better! I would pay under $400.

I’m torn, I feel like the majority of that price is for the brand name. But it is cute. I’d look and see if you could find a similar one.

I’d pay $500 for something 3 years old, people on craiglist are insane and think their stuff is worth SO much more then it is!

I feel like you could go to another store and get a brand new chair for cheaper. That’s a lot of money for a 3 year old chair

$600 is fair. don’t offer her any more. she’ll come calling if she doesn’t have any other offers. she isn’t going to get $750 for that.
