The Grape Escape
In less than 24 hours, I will be leaving for Napa Valley, California.  I’m smiling ear to ear with anticipation of my first week long vacation since I graduated college - it’s been two years of hard work so I think its well deserved.   Up till now my travels out west have only taken me to Southern Cali, so I’m totally jazzed to explore every inch of wine country.   The best part is that I’m not travelling completely blind – Joel’s extended family and I are going to visit his Aunt and Uncle who have turned their hobby into reality and started a winery just for fun.  Talk about my dream come true….
I travel often, but there’s usually not much time to relax.  While I don’t foresee much downtown in Napa either, I anticipate smiling with joy the entire time as I forget the hustle and bustle of the big city and take in the natural ease of the beautiful outdoors.
Joel’s Uncle emailed all ten of us an itinerary for the trip, including:
·          Horseback riding (haven’t been since my birthday last October….so excited!  Good thing I’m not bringing Lady with me…she’s scared of horsies!)
·          Golf
·          Tennis lessons
·          Swimming
·          Winery tours
·          Hiking in the valley
·          Many, many delicious feasts with delicious meat and locally grown fruits and veggies
I’ll be in Napa for five days and San Fran for two, and if it’s all that everyone says, I have a strong suspicion I may not return.  What can I say…New York and I have hit a rough patch in our relationship and it may be time for a new city love.
If you have any specific suggestions for things I MUST do while in Napa, let me know!

I just returned from a very similar vacation! We went to Sonoma instead of Napa, but it amazing. While you are in San Fran, make sure you are extra touristy and bike across the Golden Gate bridge to Salsalito. Definitely worth the sunshine AND the scenic ferry ride back.
