If I had to put my money on one footwear trend for spring, it would certainly be woven leather.

I’ve seen a pair in every spring lineup from JCrew, LL Bean Signature (these are really great), etc.

Me likey. (Excuse my Polyvore collage. My skillz are limited.)

Two of my coworkers are flying out to Dubai for a last minute new biz/really awesome opportunity this weekend.
Currently pouting in my office and trying to remind myself how cool my work trip to Vegas last week was.

Crate Training

Miles is crate trained and has been put in his crate whenever we leave the house for the entire year and a half we’ve had him. He doesn’t cry or a make a peep when he’s in his crate, but lately he’s been a bit more resistant to staying in there (he used to lay down when I put him in, now he tries to make a run for it when I close the door).

If Chris leaves him out, he curls up in the only chair he can jump into and is fine. If I leave him out, he wails at the back door.

I can’t decide if I should work on eliminating the crate all together or not. Chris hates it being in our living room (it IS ugly) and he feels “cruel” putting him in there for hours at a time (he is FINE… he has a dogwalker EVERY SINGLE DAY at noon and he’s never in there on the weekends).

I can’t have him wailing, ever, because my downstairs neighbors are both nurses that work PM shifts (aka they sleep during the day).

He also has a submissive peeing issue (he tinkles a little when he get stressed) so having him in the crate means no surprises when I get home. He is housetrained, however, so I feel like the crate isn’t really solving the submissive issue.

I’m not sure what the best option is. He’s so small and quiet (and loves the car) that I bring him everywhere when we travel. If it’s overnight, it’s such a pain to bring the crate.

Have any of you ever weened your dog off the crate? Is it worth it?

If you live in Central CT and have a need for a basically brand new couch, EMAIL ME!
Our living room is teeny and the compromise for us not moving downstairs was to make it more “livable”… so we bought a sectional.
Tan microfiber. 7 ft. long. Purchased brand new about 6 months ago.
Obviously a smoke free home. And Miles is too short to jump onto it so I guess you can say pet-free too.
MUST SELL by Tuesday, email me if you know anyone!

This is a powerful and heart-breaking tribute.

Iron shoes are pictured on the bank of the Danube on January 27, 2012, marking the Holocaust in Hungary. Hundreds of Hungarian Jews had to leave their shoes on the bank before they were shot into the river by Hungarian militaimen during the World War II. The United Nations declared in 2005 the Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27 to commemorate the 6 million Jews and other victims murdered by the Nazis. (Getty Images)

I remember, in 7th grade (when we learned about the Holocaust) our teachers would end every exam, essay, presentation, video… with the question “Why is it important for us to learn about this?”
And we’d always answer so obviously, “So we never forget, so that it never ever happens again.”
I would always wonder why they asked such an obvious question…but as I’ve gotten older, I get it. Because I haven’t forgotten. And I always remember being asked that question every time I see the cover of Night in the bookstore or someone’s photos of Anne Frank’s house on Facebook, or my friend Michelle singing in Hebrew to her grandfather in the hospital, himself a survivor.
Never forget.

For the first time in my life

I have finished an entire Chapstick.

but what do you do with miles? I was so tempted to by the NYC Palace hotel deal last night for the same reason! But what will I do with lola? LOL.

We are super lucky that a) Miles is more or less a cat b) he is very popular and c) our apartment is in a prime location that friends are happy to use. Most of the time his favorite Auntie Lindsey stays at our apartment for the weekend, so he never even realizes we left.

Otherwise, his fantastic foster family that I am still close with happily takes him for the weekend.

We are super lucky in the dog watching department!
