Chris dominated the gifts again ((details later)), the wine is flowing, the third full blown meal in two days is cooking, and those I love are near.

I slept for nine hours last night

I tried the melatonin and apparently it worked… although I had the most shocking, bizarre dreams ever.
How NOT to recruit new talent
So my place of employment has been interviewing for an important position. A group of us spent the day with a candidate last week so we could get to know her, ask questions, see her work, etc. She wrote the group of us a really nice thank you letter, and commented on the sarcastic personalities of two of our coworkers (it was funny, not rude).

Red Sox Swap
Per today’s agency email: “This year’s Yankee Swap has been renamed the Red Sox Swap due to Boston’s complete and utter dominance of the Hot Stove season.”
I need a gift. A really cool one (have you ever been to a gift swap with creatives? yeah). Last year’s awesome prezzie from the MoMa store went unappreciated.
I have to keep it to $20. Any suggestions?

Me: Christmas Eve day we should have a cookie baking day at my apartment!
Chris: I am down for baking some Christmas cookies.
Chris: You can wipe some frosting on my face, I'll throw some flour at you and we'll smooch just like they do on Lifetime Christmas movies.

Weekend in Review
This weekend was one of the busiest and most relaxing weekends (?!) I’ve had in a long time. Friday I skipped out of work a little early to catch the train to NYC to stay with Kendyl. We headed out to happy hour to see Sarah, who was in town from South Carolina, and a whole crew of fellow Tumblrs.

Had to bail on the 5k to take Miles to the vet this morning.
Since last night, he painted every carpeted square foot of my apartment with diarrhea and vomit. Don’t worry, he didn’t touch the hard wood.

Things are looking up
In another attempt to get in the holiday spirit, my roommate and I went to the Holiday Stroll at Blue Back Square (the yuppie outdoor shopping center down the street) last night. We were hoping for lights, wreaths, holiday music, and maybe a Santa for good measure.
Instead, we found relatively unlit streets piled with horse poop from the carriage rides and Sponge Bob Square Pants caroling in...

I’m trying my darndest to get the holiday spirit cranking. My lack of spirit may have something to do with the fact that I finished Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving (except for one Cyber Monday purchase).
